'Shea butter' has become a profitable ingredient marketing term for large cosmetic corporations in recent years. However, most shea butter lotions and cremes mass marketed to the public contain little if any therapeutic quality shea butter in their formulas.
Unrefined shea butter - the only type of shea butter used in any of our products - is never exposed to harsh chemicals at any time during processing. Therefore it retains all of its natural therapeutic nutrients and also its natural aroma.
Refined shea butter is the type that is commonly used in commercially-prepared (and even many handmade) skin care products. The refining process exposes the shea butter and its nutrients to harsh chemicals, which we believe results in an inferior grade of shea butter.
We won't settle for inferior, and neither should you!
